Laser Cutting & Etching

We operate a CadCam FB400 water cooled 10 Watt CO₂  laser cutter. It is, of course, computer controlled and fully integrates with our embroidery and printing systems.

Cutting

The integration with the embroidery is vital as it permits us to precisely cut outlines laid down in the embroidery software. These can then be used to combine areas of fabric with embroidery.

In it's simplest use this may be to create disks (or other shapes) for badge backgrounds. On the other hand we may be asked to create more inventive designs. For example, in the fashion world we may be asked to cut butterfly wings which are then embroidered onto a garment by stitching over the body leaving the wings flapping.

Etching

We use our laser cutter not only for cutting out material like fabric, plastic and wood veneer, but also for etching these materials. 

Garment personalisation of fleece using laser etching is particularly successful giving a 3D embossed look. While etching a company logo into leather can create an ideal effect.
